Description

The junctions of the L 93 and L 94 with the B 258 have been accident blackspots for years, and the section of the B 258 in the area of the Nürburgring is also very accident-prone, not least due to numerous access roads and the high speed level. The conversion of the road junctions into roundabouts and the installation of a structural centre divider in the cross-section of the B 258, which for the remaining access roads only allow right-hand entry and right-hand exit procedures and thus a faster handling of the entries and exits and fewer conflict points. In combination with a maximum speed limit of 50 km/h, the number of accidents could be drastically reduced.
A third roundabout was planned to connect the Welcome Centre and the new combined heat and power plant. All three roundabouts mentioned above have an outer diameter of 40 m and can be used in two lanes if necessary for large events. In the direction of Meuspath, a new cycle path/walkway parallel to the B 258 supplements the existing network of paths.
