Description

The project described below comprises construction of a dormitorybuilding for 128 persons (ranks E1 - E4) for US Air Force purposes and car parking areas for 133 cars. Basis of design is the manual "Unaccompanied Housing Design Guide" Status January 2006 and the guideline for FORCE PROTECTION UFC 4-010-01, Status October 2003.

The project serves to improve the living situation of US-soldiers stationed in Ramstein. The manual requires the dormitories to be combined to 4-bed dwelling units. A private area of approx. 12 m2 plus closet space and separate bathroom will be provided per user. A common room with kitchen cabinetry will be additionally allocated to each dwelling unit.

The floor plan modules are arranged in 2 wings at rightangle. A glazed connecting element accommodates the circulation areas, stairs and elevator as well as common rooms and utility rooms. Additional rooms on the 1. Floor will accommodate the custodian's office, an area for vending machines and a public toilet. The entire public area on the 1. Floor will be planned suitable for thephysically handicapped in accordance with the US-ADA-regulations, Edition October 1994.

The building will be planned according to valid NFPA fire protection regulations and the German fire protection regulations.
