Description

The area includes two highly frequented city centre junctions. Pedestrian and cycle traffic must be taken into account with particular care. Neighbouring areas that require new urban development are included. All concepts are to be integrated into the overall urban situation with the resulting development perspectives.

The redesign of the area around the railway station in Cottbus has the following objectives:

  • Creation of a central connection point between rail, tram, bus, car and cycle transport with a high level of traffic safety, short distances and easy orientation
  • Optimisation of traffic flows, in particular of public transport against the background of a restructuring of the tram route network, planning of a bus station
  • Upgrading the areas in front of the main railway station to a "station square" address with a high quality of stay
  • Determination of the catchment areas for the discharge of rainwater into the receiving watercourse including dimensioning of the cleaning systems (bus station)
  • Creation of a long-term car park for commuters with infiltration of the rainwater in troughs and seepage areas
  • Consideration of accessibility
