Description

AS&P – Albert Speer & Partner GmbH (AS&P, in association with DORSCH CONSULT) was awarded a contract to perform a development vision for the Corniche stretching from the Sports Complex at the western end of the so-called Boulevard to the ferry terminal in the East. The entire area has a length of approx. 3.6 km. The services defined in this contract were performed between May 2005 and August 2005. Based on the study performed by AS&P and after a successful presentation of the general concept to the Honorable President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev it has been decided, that the concept should be detailed further with a view to implementation.

Transport Infrastructure has been asked to assemble a capable design team according to the requirements of the project and to perform the required consulting services.

The intention is to create a modern and attractive waterfront promenade on the shores of the Caspian Sea. The promenade, which we have named the ‘Corniche’, will become a unique feature for the city of Baku. Already generously wide and long, the main aim will to be improve its visual appearance by adding new planting, modernizing the paved areas, and introducing new elements as shown in first concepts. A key feature will be the lighting, which will attract visitors in the evening from far and wide.
