Description

This project consists of the new construction of the Combat Communication Squadron Compound which basically contains planning, training and administration facilities in addition to a warehouse for the equipment of the squadron.

The new building is a building type arranged at 60° angle with 2 differently utilized wings and an open lobby extending over two floors located in the connection point of the building wings. A specialty is the arms vault and the requested windowless planning area. The reduced load-bearing capacity of encountered soil conditions (former swampland) necessitates an increased expenditure for building foundations with a strong reinforced concrete foundation slab.

This project includes an open area for satellite dishes and antennae and large parking areas for the vehicles. It also includes design of extensive exterior, parking and landscaping areas as well as force protection features. The new building especially was planned in consideration of functional, environmental and safety aspects. The park deck is a 2-floor structure with semi-floor staggered parking levels. Two access means are at ground level. Individual parking levels are accessible via two opposed ramps. Three (3) roof-covered stairwells are planned for pedestrian circulation. All required utility rooms are located in the core of the park deck.
