Sweihan: Military Air Base Extension and Upgrade

The UAE Directorate of Military Works is planning the extension of the existing Sweihan Air Base. The first development phase include the following aspects:

  • approx. 300.000 m² asphalt with sunshade structures for alert aircraft stands
  • New Runway 13/31 with 3.000 m+ Length in asphalt (Touch-down zones in concrete)
  • Extension of TWY-System (asphalt)
  • 4 Headquarter Facilities
  • Air Traffic Control Tower, ARFF facility
  • 2 maintenance hangars for AH-64 apache aircraft
  • 2 maintenance hangars for AW-139 aircraft
  • 1 maintenance hangar for AS-365 Panther and AS-332 Super Puma aircraft
  • Central maintenance facility, GSE compound
  • Spare parts and ammunition storage facilities
  • Training facility, Accommodations
  • Fencing, entry control points, watchtowers, vehicle inspection area
