Abu Dhabi: Construction of Support Air Base

The UAE Directory of Military Works is planning the

construction of a military airbase on the north-eastern

side of the existing Abu Dhabi International Airport to

support the armed forces. In the first phase, the airbase

will be composed of the following elements:

• Paved Apron and Taxiway (total of 360.000 m²)
• Taxiway connection to the existing runway
• Maintenance hangar for C-17 and A330 A/C
• Maintenance hangar for C-130 and DASH-8 A/C
• Centralized spare parts storage facility
• Cargo facility
• GSE station
• Central utility plant
• Operations and training facilities
• Accommodations (officers, soldiers and civilians)
• Perimeter fencing, entry control point, vehicle inspection
• area
• Utilities: storm water drainage, chilled/potable/fire
• water, sewage, power supply, communications
• Perimeter and airside roads, car parking
• Additional airside facilities
